A colour laser printer has traditionally been big, expensive machine and not commonly found in the home or small office, Samsung aim to change that with the CLP-300. Designed for those on a tight budget the CLP-300 is priced not a lot more than your average inkjet printer and doesn’t have much bigger a desktop foot print. Samsung CLP-300 toner cartridges have also been designed with a low budget in mind and although they print less than your average Samsung toner cartridges they do offer a good cost per page figures of 1.8p per page in black and 8.7p in colour. The printer cartridges are not the only thing that has been scaled down in the CLP-300, the paper tray only holds 150 sheets and the print speed offer 16ppm in black and 4ppm in colour, while the black printing speed is good the colour leaves a bit to be desired. It’s clear that the CLP-300 is not designed to do the same sort of quantities as a normal colour laser printer but it still offers far superior performance than any inkjet printer can offer. Printing black text documents is what the CLP-300 does best, the quality of print is very good and is always clear and sharp, colour printing however is not quite so impressive, although it prints graphics to a suitable standard high resolution images appear grainy and overly vivid. This is however the only short fall of the Samsung CLP-300 and when you consider that it not actually designed for printing photos its not even a short fall. The Samsung CLP-300 delivers of all the things is designed to do and it does them to a good standard.
